Seeking info on color profile subjects for III./ZG26 profiles for 09.39, at outbreak of the war
Hello,
We're chosen the following subject for our III./ZG6 color profiles for the first month of the war. These would have probably been photographed at Neumünster AF, Germany: 1) Bf109D-1 White 9+I, 7./ZG26 Caption on back of one photos says "Neumünster, Sept., 1939/" This a/c was undergoing an engine change in the two photos that I have. Need name of assigned pilot and W.Nr. 2) Bf109D-1 No Good candidate: Can anyone suggest a good candidate for this a/c, preferably one with a known pilot and W.Nr., but will accept any photo from Sept, or the fall of 1939? We're already using Red 5+I that FL and overturned in Denmark on 26.10.39 for the 2./JGr126 profile. We know the pilot and W.Nr. Anybody have anything to suggest? 3) Bf109D-1 Y13+I, nicknamed Gigi, 9./ZG26 There several photos of this a/c on eBay and from other sources, with a pilot, an officer, associated with them. Does anyone know the name of the pilot that flew this a/c, or its W.Nr.? These would have been taken at Neumünster or Bönninghardt. Can anyone provide any help? Larry,
Please could you confirm the emblem carried by the Bf-109 D-1s of 8./ZG 26. Best Regards, Chris |

Chris,
This is the "walking fox," emblem, which some people have called the "sad fox" emblem. This is the same emblem carried on the forward fuselages of 8./ZG26 Bf110Cs. Regards, Larry |
