Luftwaffe losses in the West 1939-1940
Ran across this reference:
"See Air Historical branch (AHB) Translation, Volume 4, No. VII/83 German Aircraft Losses (In the West Only) September 1939-December 1940 for all the above figures. It contains British POST-WAR translation and collation of GERMAN figures." Ed |

Ed,
Sounds very interesting. Any idea of how one would get a copy of this translated report? Regards, Larry Hickey EoE Project Coordinator |

Andrew,
Thanx. Will have to find a way to acquire this. What do categories: CR LR, T, C and M mean? I understand all the rest. Regards, Larry |

Re: Luftwaffe losses in the West 1939-1940
Hello,
do not know if it is of interest, but I have more detailed statistical information from correspondence between Chef der Flugsicherheit and Generalluftzeugmeister - giving the number of aircraft divided by type and unit category for the period November 1939 through March 1940. These are quite detailed, giving number of aircraft of given type, the resulting damage to aircraft in four subdivisions (no damage, light damage, heavy damage and destroyed), injuries to aircrew (lightly injured, heavily injured, dead), injuries to non-aircrew (same categories) and finally the reason for the incident in five categories (human factor, technical problem, nature, unknown and other reasons). Should give an indication of the completeness of other reports for the period at least. Regards, Andreas B |
