Most People Rescued In A Single Sortie
 

Gentlemen,

A single Seenotdienst Do-24 flyingboat had rescued in one sortie 99 children and fourteen adults from a Soviet advance into Koszalin during the Battle of Kolberg on March of 1945. The load was very heavy. It couldn't fly but it wave-hopped and taxed back to base! That had to be a world record of most people rescued by a flyingboat in one sortie. I wondered what the crew's names were especially the pilot? Any thoughts?

Hi,
The incident took place in Seefliegerhorst Kamp on 5 March1945.
Plane Do 24 T3 Wnr 1151, after takeoff fell and sank in the lake.

Apparently the Do-24 was shot at by Russian tanks from the shore. Most of those killed were children, with a number estimate between 70 and 80.

I think some Sunderland flying boats picked up some big loads of people but I can't give you the planes record.
