Unidentified KG76 Dornier 17
1 Attachment(s)
I have this photograph which I am unable to identify.
Can anybody help? On the reverse is an inscription. It looks like: "Luckheim's Do 17, Sept 1940". Any ideas out there? |
Re: Unidentified KG76 Dornier 17
Hi Andy
As far as I can tell 2 and 8./KG76 used white outlined letters. Cheers Chris |
Re: Unidentified KG76 Dornier 17
Thanks very much, Chris.
I think (from chatting with Chris Goss today) this this is likely 2 Staffel. Does anybody have a Luckheim (or similar?) on 2./KG76 roster during August/September 1940? |

Hi,
I have this photo on film with other photos taken by a member of III./KG76. Regards Robert |
Re: Unidentified KG76 Dornier 17
Andy,
I just ran all of the photos in the EoE photo DB for F1+B_. This could be F1+BA of the Gesch Stab, but the spacing isn't right and the blue number looks lighter in the photos I have of that a/c. The identical photo that you asked about we list as 8 Staffel. After looking at the other possibilities I ran all 60 photo for 8./KG76, and the spacing, position and appearance of the lettering is identical. My conclusion is that our ID of this as an 8./KG76 aircraft is correct. So, does anybody show a pilot or observer in 8./KG76 during 1940 with the name Luckheim? Regards, Larry Hickey EoE Project Coordinator |
Re: Unidentified KG76 Dornier 17
Thank you for that input, Larry.
Thus far, the story behind the photograph remains a mystery. |
