236 Sqn 10 May 42

At 1712 hrs on this date, K/236 Sqn claimed to have damaged a Do 217 off Yarmouth. The Do 217, U5+BR of 7/KG 2 flown by Oblt Rolf Hausner, got back undamaged. Does anyone have any details from the RAF side?

I have found it was T4917/K flown by Plt Off Lee & Flt Sgt Taylor so does anyone have any information on these 2 aircrew?

Hi Chris,

P/O Lee may have had initials L. C.

Not much, but perhaps someone else can add full names or service number.

Regards,
Hans

Hello,

A possibility:

748033/(117366) Laurence Cecil LEE RAFVR. Commissioned (from Sgt.) P/O on prob. (emerg.) w.e.f. 17-1-1942 (amended from 25-2-1942).

Thanks again Col. If as Hans says this is L C Lee, he looks likely. Just wish F540s included initials!

Hi Chris and Col,

Found the source, the initials L. C. are mentioned in the Form 541 of June 1942.

Hans

Chris
Two months later this Beaufighter T4917 (together withT4827, another 236 Sqn aircraft) was lost off the Dutch coast. Among the missing is 970706 Flt Sgt Douglas Henry Taylor. Perhaps your man?

Thanks-sounds good if he was not a pilot. Lee survived the war so was not lost with him
