LZ-129 Hindenburg engines
I know LZ-130, Graf Zeppelin II, had four Daimler-Benz DB 602s, but I can not determine the engines for LZ-129. All published sources I have read are very vague. One source says they were Maybachs. Anyone know the answer for sure?
Thanks, Hal |

Re: LZ-129 Hindenburg engines
Hello,
THe Zeppelin Museum Fredrichafen has one DB 602 on display and the caption to the engine states that the type of enigne was used on LZ-129 airship. I guess the museum should know what they're talking about! :) On my website you can find a photo of the DB 602 at the museum. www.axisaircraft.com Best wishes /Mikael |
Re: LZ-129 Hindenburg engines
Many Thanks Tony and Mikael! It is interesting to note the engines of LZ-129 were pushers while those of LZ-130 were tractors. It is amazing that so many wonderful books cover these airships in such great depth but somehow manage to overlook their engine details...
