Heinkel111H lost 27.10.40 KG1
Good afternoon, could anybody confirm from the NVM the following loss for 27.10.40.
the usual loss details, particularly first names functions etc. He111H-2 W.Nr 5541 V4+HW crew of Behres,Heinhold Rosenberg, Hartleib, Saumsiegel.A/c said to be of I/KG1. Lost during sortie to Horsham-St-Faith. I would have expected this a/c to have been from II/KG1 rather than from I/KG1 bearing mind the code and target area? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Best regs, Steve. |

Steve,
i am still scratching my head (possibly it is empty due to some reason beeing too much and too long online)... ...the "W" in this case isn't pointing to IV./KG 1 - most likely a "Ergänzungsgruppe"? Best Regards Norbert P.S. (edited): Aaah, okay, if Matti isn't right at least, who is? |

Re: Heinkel111H lost 27.10.40 KG1
4., 5. and 6./KG 1 used V4+.U, V and W till mid 1941. After that they were used by IV/KG 1 "by the book".

Re: Heinkel111H lost 27.10.40 KG1
Many thanks Matti for clearing this incident up. My assumption on it being an a/c from II/KG1 was indeed correct then!
Thank you to Norbert and Chris for your help. Kindest regs, Steve. |
