15 (P)AFU accident

Hello,
Seeking details of accident to an Airspeed Oxford of 15 (P)AFU.
What of crew and others that may have been injured or killed ?
Serial number I think was N6322 and date was late August 1944, some refs have the 28th others perhaps the 29th ?

Detail from AB is " N6322 15 PAFU - Hit tree on night approach and crashed into hut, Babdown Farm, 28.8.44".

Other info is " 29.8.44 - Oxford from 15 PAFU hit the top of the Controllers van WAAF killed".

If the above was not the same incident then what was the serial number of the second Oxford please ?

Thanks
Alex

Re: 15 (P)AFU accident

Might I suggest that the two are the same and occurred around midnight hence 28th / 29th August, as with Bomber Command losses?

Hello Larry,
Thanks for the reply.
You echo my thoughts on this except that the one is said to have crashed into a hut while the other had only hit the top of the controllers van.
If it was the same event then what happened to the aircrew, who were they, were there any injured ?

F1180 says 23:10 hrs on the 28th.

F/Sgt O G Williams RAAF 433257 hit tree on approach then hit AFC's hut killing AFC.

No further Oxford accident recorded until 31st.

His service file at the NAA has not be digitised but for a small fee it could be and release further details.

Re: 15 (P)AFU accident

Hello,Paul & Ross,
WAAF was an American, from Cleveland, Ohio from what I understand.
LACW Edna Mae THOMLINSON, at rest at Bath(Haycombe) Cemetery, Somerset.
NAA "small fee" over 25 dolars I find. Had hoped for a digital copy.
But on the plus side we now have for certain the a/c serial number and name of its pilot (Owen Gwynne Williams from NSW). It seems it was just one of several night time accidents by this unit .
Thanks
Alex

Hello Paul,

Thanks for register details, this then would lead perhaps to there being two incidents and not just the one ?
