Unfortunately not from my side... JaPo has nil on that particular machine. Must have been test flown after 5/2/45 as W.Nr. 611 005 was on that day.

Cheers

HI Marc!

I have more info on this from another post I made...but the owner did not know the werk at the time. I have the majority wreck and found the werk hand-written on the inside fuselage.

This is the info that was given to me:

"March 1945 flew an Me109 G reconnaissance flight over Freyung Grafenau to Schoenberg. In Schoenberg, the aicraft was hit by the US (FlaK?) and caught fire. The plane flew towards a house in the woods where it crashed into a boggy ground in front of a forest.

The pilot bailed out, but he did not survive. The body was recovered and carted off with to a house in the woods, where he was given a simple funeral by a local woman. The name of the pilot was Feldwebel Hans Helmut Habermehl from 1/JG 10/8. Years later, his body was sent to Hofkirchen (military cemetery)."

As there were no units of JG10 or JG8...I am assuming that what was supposed to be written was JG108?

If he has this much info, there must be a record somwhere, no?

Mike,

We can find one Uffz. Hans-Helmut Habermehl from 1./JG 54 in 1940. Wounded at that time ...no more info about this one. The same?

I./JG 108? Did exist after 02/1945? don't think so, though it seems a good guess.
And
G-10/U4 in JG 108? another interrogation mark. Not obvious.

Doesn't help a lot, I'm sorry.

Regards, Franck.

Hello Frank,

I/JG 108 did exist until 25/03/45.
Unfortunately, I have no data concerning Bf 109 with this unit for 1945, only Fw 190 or Ar 96, Bü 181, etc...!
Regards.

Well...they confirmed 1/JG108...I know JG108 did have the Me109...but I did not think the G10/U4...

Opinions?

TIA

Mike
