Loss of stiring ef271/199 sqn 15-16 feb 44

Just found out that this crash at Grun-Bordas near Vergt is not far from my house in France. Can anyone give me more details as to its loss (especially our Australian contributors as a number of the crew came from 'down under').P
PS. No idea why the title deaulted to lower case and yes, it should be Stirling not Stiring!

Hi Chris,

Have a look at the A705 Casualty files at the NAA Canberra.

Lambourne, 421428 has the results of an inquiry by the Red Cross giving more details and what was found at the crash site.

The links time out so you need to do the following steps:

http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/search/

Click on record search

Put the following into the keyword box

Lambourne 421428

Hit search and then click on the sheaf of papers icon on the righthand side.

As with all casualty reports start at the last page and read forward.

After that try a basic search on EF271 it will bring up the other document references.

If they have not been digitised yet you can have this done for a small fee and the images will be placed ready for web viewing.

Regards
Ross
