Info needed on Ju88 W.Nr. 0886083 (?)

Hey guys...

Any history on that bird? The only info I have is that it crashed in Russia...and the number was 6083. I am assuming 6083 would need to have a prefix of 88...

Any thoughts?

TIA

Mike

Not only , look also this option below:

J88-006043, Ju88 A4
LUFTWAFFE, ??+??, ??.??.?? to Feb.42, damaged by enemy fire at Kowda

Source: http://www.junkers.de.vu/
Look : Production list ---> Junkers Ju88

You can try also ask Horst Zoeller ( hugojunkers(a)yahoo.de - change "a=@" ) from link above.

Or here user:

So we can start looking for information about:

Re: Info needed on Ju88 W.Nr. 0886083 (?)

Hi all.

Especially KrisJG3. This info (fragmentary lists) on Horst Zoeller Junkers website is wrong for so many parts. It also bears no resemblance to be a serious research, appears a collection of bits and pieces (mostly internet sources), assembled apparanty (?) at randon, and has added parameters that are incorrect, and as such, worthless (as a referance) in my opinon.

Unfortunately some do not know this.

Correct prefix was 088xxxx but not J- this and that. J- in Zoellers list is meant to be for Junkers own made planes, but he seemingly does not know this Factory designator here is (088)6xxx for Heinkel/Oranienburg assembled airframes. And this was no A-4 either!

This "put up" example aircraft was an A-5 (but originally A-1). From GQM lists this was "A-1 6043" but by 1942 all surviving A-1s had been upgraded A-5.

088 6043 Ju 88 A-5´ 4D+BK I/KG 30 (Luftflotte 5 East)
OPS (F) dam (20%) by enemy fighter near Kowda [10km North of Kouda Railway Station (i.e. Kovda railway station, which is 13 km from the Kovda village, Kola Peninsula, USSR)] 08.02.1942 (F Uffz. Franz Holesek injured)

(reported A1 6043 in LWFLV losses 54v10.02.42; dam amended ´zero´ in u/24.02.42; Salonen NVM)
- Then this going to IV/KG 30, later loss 100%

But there is no info on 6083 asked for in "Russia" (likely Soviet Union meant, Russia itself was but part of that).

Is this from a photo? Please inform where this number/info comes from.

088 6083 Ju 88 A-1 KuFlGr 806 (Luftflotte 3)
Non-OPS (H) engine damage and belly landed (30% Er) at Le Havre 27.12.1940

Best regards

HI Ed!
Ah yes..that was me reading too quickly...

:(

I have 4 wreck parts...all from a Ju88. One of them is a part where you normally would find a hand-written W.Nr. In this case, as per Junkers standard fashion, the hand written werk indicates, 88/6083.

Re: Info needed on Ju88 W.Nr. 0886083 (?)

Hi Mike,
Many Parts were marked this way "88/xxxx". Same "difference" so to speak.
(Main Airframe Makers acceptance plate whould have carried 0886083)
Does not prove this was anything but that this part was once on 6083, and as "30 Er" % indicates this needed repair at Factory level. There parts were repaired and used on next assembled airframe (not waiting for the other parts to be finished) and thus speeding up the repair process.
Fuselage number was the one carried on, other parts used randomly, and cases are known of aircraft having wings from two other aircraft, and tail from yet other.
(Ju 88 A-5 88/6146 in Berlin is one such rebuilds, but the tail was transferred to Ju 88 A-1 0119 in Norway, so currently its missing parts I guess, but I do not know the exact status on what the German plans are for this).

You have my email, I very much like see photos of them parts :-)

Regards
Ed
