Blenheim Mk I L1541
Hello,
I search information about this aircraft : Blenheim Mk I L1541 It is reported in East Africa with 8 Squadron in june 1940 - 12 june 1940 : bombardment Macaaca - 15 june 1940 : bombardment Dire Daua - 25 june 1940 : bombardment Biyo Kababa - 27 june 1940 : bombardment Macaaca It was transferred to 11 Squadron, on 7 july 1940, where it participated in a mission over Macaaca, on 24 july 1940. But, after 31 July 1940, I find no other information on this aircaft with 11 Squadron. Does anyone have additional information regarding this Blenheim ? |
Re: Blenheim Mk I L1541
Air Britain Historians book RAF Aircraft L1000-N9999 list it as going to Aden after this but its ultimate fate is not listed.

Hello,
Thanks for the information. |
Re: Blenheim Mk I L1541
I have a note that from Station Flight Aden it went on to 70 OTU but I do not know when this happened so cannot say where the OTU was based.

Re: Blenheim Mk I L1541
70 OTU was formed at Ismailia 10/12/40 with fighters, Blenheims, and other types. It moved to Nakuru (Kenya) 5-28/7.41 (having had a detachment there since 30.3.41), concentrating on light and medium bomber training. It moved to Shandur between 21/5/43 and 7/8/43, Marauders replacing Blenheims.
