Ofw Kurt Petsch

According to Matti, the above (from Fl.Ber/Lfl.Kdo 2) went missing in a Do 217 K-1 between Rome & Gabes on 20 Feb 43. Matti says he was captured, the family say he is still missing, there is no mention of him on the VDK site. Also, can anyone say how the Do 217 might have been lost? 3 passengers (Obersts Hans Grunow & Rudolf Robrecht and Maj Josef Stefan) were reported missing as were two other crew (Ofw Ludwig Hönning & Ofw Heinz Niemann) but only Grunow is listed on the VDK site

Chris, from my past experience it is usual that airmen missing at sea are not found in the VDK database.

Grunow was missing at sea so why was he the only one listed? Another loss I am researching had 2 missing at sea; one is listed the other is not!
