The above was a POW in Canada in 1943-can anyone tell me when and how he was captured?

There was a Paratrooper officer named Gerhard Merten(s), who I think was involved in the rescue of Mussolini, but he was wounded in action in 1945.

Hi,

the paratrooper is Gerhard Mertins, + 1993 in Florida
Hilfegemeinschaft Kameraden der WaffennSS, postwar weaponexporteur BRD( selled north american F86 to Pakistan) Colonia dingidad, are some few parts in his live after the war.
