9./njg200 ?

Hello,

In Luftwaffe loss list (Genst.Gen.Qu.) on 18.11.43 was mentioned a damage of Bf110 G2 from 9./NJG200 on 31.10.43 off Kertsch (Crimea), Oblt Hans Janke was wounded. In errata/additions list on 30.11.43 the unit also named as 9./NJG200, W/nr 6384 added. Was the 9./NJG200 really existed or it is misprint?

Yes, of course I saw that page. But this exelent website contains in some cases errors and omissions. So the question remains.

Hi Andrey,
I only have info regarding the formation of 9./NJG 200 in Oct-1943. I have no info regarding the disbandment or what happend to this squadron. There was no III. Gruppe with NJG 200. 7. Staffel was also formed in Oct-43 and 8. Staffel was formed Aug-43 from 4./NJG 200 but became 4./NJG 100 in Dec-43. It could well be one of those short lived units.

Ragards,

Norbert

Hello, Norbert,

Thank you very much. What source of info about 9./NJG200 existence? Have you some additional info about this Staffel? In Kertsch area in the beginning of November 5./NJG200 was very active in close support role, so the damaged Bf 110 on 31.Oct maybe from 5.Staffel really. But repeated info about 9./NJG200 seems as right info.

Andrey

Hello Andrey,
my source is Barry Rosch's book Luftwaffe Codes and Markings. Unfortunately I do not have any additional information. I'm a close friend of Barry. When he is back from surgery I will ask him if there is any additional info on this unit.

Regards,

Norbert

Andrey:

Have you checked G. Tessin's Volume 14 of "Verbande and Truppen..." ?

Re: 9./njg200 ?

Hello Norbert and John,

Thank you for answers.
I didn’t read the Tessin’s books. Are they the reference books about German units in WW2? What sort of data for each unit in these books?
I see the 14th vol. is about units in Reich area but 9./NJG200 was on Ostfront (Crimea) in Oct.43.

Barry Rosch’s info will be very interesting.

Regards,
Andrey
