Mid-air collision L-4B 43-705 on 28/5/44

On the 28th May 1944, the 405th FG at Christchurch, England lost one of their L-4B communication aircraft in a mid-air collision over the Avon Village a few miles north of the base. The pilot Charles W Starck, of the 510th FS was killed but I have been unable to find any trace of a USAAF or RAF aircraft lost in similar circumstances in that area for that day. Perhaps the other aircraft was a large aircraft type, that was not badly damaged and so was able to land safety. Still I would be interested to know what the L-4B collided with.

Larry - have you requested the accident report from AAF archives?

www.accident-report.com lists the report. They do charge $ for it.
