Re: Photos 5-11
Ed,
Thanks, as ever, for your work on posting these. Your last, single, photo (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=171314926551) is the formation assembly ship of the 466 Bomb Group, 8th Air Force. This machine was known in the unit as "The Rum Runner" although the name was not painted on the plane. This from my friend who was a tail gunner in the unit. GRM |
Re: Photos 5-11
GRM,
I'd never seen such a pattern on a US aircraft. Thanks for the details. Ed |

Re: Photos 5-11
Interesting photo.
http://www.ebay.de/itm/Echtfoto-Engl.../310955407789? I thought it was P7537 IIa CBAF MXII 38MU 21-10-40 74S 4-11-40 Shot down by Bf109 nr Gravelines on bomber escort mission 6-5-41 AST SOC 28-5-41 Sgt Arnett POW But those are 65Sqn markings and not 74Sqn. Could not find any other P7?37 Spitfire lost in France etc. Any thoughts? regards Mark |
