Re: What polish unit used this flight emblem?
Looks like the emblem of the 19 Eskadra Mysliwska.

Re: What polish unit used this flight emblem?
Hi,
most likely 112 Eskadra Mysliwska or staff section of III/1 Dywizjon Mysliwski. I saw photos of three aircraft with this emblem: "10", "2" and "7" so this might confirm that it was squadron and not group emblem. Regards Robert |
Re: What polish unit used this flight emblem?
Robert,
was the 19 Eskadra absorbed by 112 Eskadra? My information was from Jerzy Pawlak "Polskie eskadry w latach 1918-1939", WKL, 1989. Regarding this book the 112 Eskadra had the "czarny kogut" as emblem. My problem was that 19 Eskadra was in 1921 absorbed by another Eskadra - so it's hard to fly with P-7 or P-11. Regrads Rasmussen I've found: 19 Eskadra --> 18 Eskadra --> 122 Eskadra -- > 112 Eskadra |
Re: What polish unit used this flight emblem?
Hi,
in fact in January 1921 no.19 Sqn was disbanded and incorporated into no.18 Sqn but the emblem did surface only in 1939. Colonel Pawlikowski, CO of Pursuit Brigade, was a member of no.19 Sqn so this emblem could be linked with him but the staff section of Pursuit Brigade had had only 2 P.11 fighters and I have photos of 3 a/c, which were decorated with this emblem in 1939. Later this emblem was also used in England (but not on aircraft). Regards Robert |
