Heinkel He51 trainers
Hi,
Would anyone be able to shed some light on the aircraft via this link? http://www.heimatmuseum-oberschleiss...1921-1945.html Once the page shows, please tab along (11 times!) to the right until you arrive at the image of the He51. The nearest has a partial Stkz code under the wing and a number on the fuselage. Could anyone provide code/number details, and the colour of the number? Aircraft '4' (to the rear) and '7' (extreme left) are also shown. Any information on those would also be appreciated. Presumably being trainers, I take it they would only have one shade of dark green applied? Can anyone advise the likely colour of the spinner... yellow, perhaps? Sorry for all the questions, but trainers aren't my strongpoint. Thanks for any help that can be offered. Regards, Paul |
Re: Heinkel He51 trainers
I think that the assumption of a single green is probably unsound. Looking at the photos, there does seem to be differences to be seen (or imagined?) There appears to be a demarcation on the nose, with the area in front of the wing appearing darker. There seem to be similar differences visible on the fins.
The Luftwaffe Experten Members Group does have, or have access to, as near a complete list of SKZs as I know of, so if you are very lucky you may be able to track down examples of this school. |

Hi, Graham...
Thanks for your thoughts, and the pointer. It's not the easiest image to clarify but perhaps someone will be able to help. Regards, Paul |
Re: Heinkel He51 trainers
Paul,
these are trainers from 1./ZS 1, based at Schleißheim 01.40 to 09.41. The numbers behind the cross are white. |
