Hi Peter,
From: Coastal Command Losses 1939-1941 by Ros McNeill 86 Sqdn Beaufort I AW207 BX-H P/O D. Page 64320 POW F/O J. Mc. Paxton 81063 POW Sgt J. B. Green 978471 POW Sgt J. McCann 978471 POW Gardening North Coates 16.15 hrs Took off for a mining operation in the Friese gat between Ameland and Schiermonnikoog. On the run in for the mine drop the Beaufort was hit by Flak and P/O Page altered course for Schiermonnikoog. The aircraft just missed crashing into the farm of De Kooi, but came to earth at 18.15 hrs in a meadow just beyond. Wreckage was spread over an 80 metre area with one wing ripped off, both engines lost from their mountings and the mine thrown out but failing to explode. The crew were mostly uninjured with only Sgt McCann suffering a broken collar bone. The crew set fite to the aircraft before capture. 86 Sqdn Beaufort I AW192 BX-T P/O D. R. J.
