Bf 109-Wesenberg

Hallo!

I have got this original picture.
It was taken in August 1941 on airfield Wesenberg/Rakvere.
I think the Bf 109 is from JG 54 III.Gruppe 7.Staffel. Is that correct?
Does anybody know the pilot?

Thank you very much for help!

Grüsse aus Ravensburg,

Wolfgang

I make it with 7 kills on the rudder? If so, and the date is accurate, the best match is likely Ltn. Hermann Leiste who claimed his 7th on 9-Aug, 8th on 14-Aug and 9th on the 20th. All the other guys from 7./JG 54 either have too many claims or not enough. Too bad we can't see the airplane's code.

Other totals by the end of Aug-41 - Ostermann 29, Scholz 21, Kempf 15, Biederbick 6 and von Malapert 5, everyone <5. (Query search for 7./JG 54, Jul/Aug-41)

Yes, no code available for this one ...

But we can point out the dark painted area (black I suppose) around the exhaust pipes.
This is a useful clue very rare for this unit at that time ... Well, I suppose comparing with what I can; So, keep it it mind if by chance ...

Seven kills on rudder, indeed (clear enlargement from old eBay auction). And I have it in Wesenberg for August 1941, too.

Regards, Franck.

Good morning!
I´ve tried to get information to this picture for a"friend".
Now he offers this picture with all this given details on E-Bay.
Sorry,this was not my intention!
Of course he didn´t offer it to me first.
That´s what friends are for!

Hi Wolfgang,

Last seller - who was Macfly I presume according to scan quality, size and aspect had already these data ... Your friend got nothing more!!!

Regards, Franck.

Just small correction - Leiste's 8th claim was in the morning of 13.Aug.
