Bomber offensive maps

Im in the process of mapping target, dates and info for the RAF bomber offensive. Data taken from here

Question: would this format of map be useful presented this way?
See map --> here <-- for Jan.43

Suggestions appreciated.

Hello Schnautzer,

I admire your effort but I would also like to warn you for the possible disappointment that the giant efforts laying ahead doesn't pay off: Duisburg for instance or even worse, Berlin, were attacked many times in 1943 and how can you possibly stick so many pins at one location? If you succeed in doing this, I am afraid that your final aim (presenting a good overview of attacks against specific targets) will not be reached.

This comment is certainly not meant as discouragement, but as time is precious (to me at least), I would spend it in other, more rewarding projects.

All the best, Marcel

Hello Marcel,

Thank you for taking the time to view.

As you can read below it is not only a map. Given a place say Berlin you get the result that there were 3 attacks in Jan 43 Right hand bottom one can click on the arrows to scroll through these 3 events

It will be a monthly view so swamping a target i.g. Berlin with pins will not happen.

Main objective is to give info and overview about these RAF bomber attacks perhaps combining them later with losses over Holland for the RAF Luftwaffe, USAF so one can see what was the target what/where the losses
Loss map Luftwaffe jan 43 here

It is just a project for me,
  • Option 1 Search bar. Enter the required search string into the google like search bar.
  • Option 2 The coloured circle. This means there is a cluster of events. By clicking on this a more zoomed in view will appear. Repeat when needed.
  • Option 3 The pins at the bottom of the map. The are the dividers I used to project the data. By clicking on it you will get all event concerning that item.
