FOUND PROPELLER OD BF 109?
4 Attachment(s)
Dear all,
I send you some pictures of a blade of a propeller recovered near the airfield of Piana del Diavolo (Canino, Central Italy). The part of the propeller was found long ago by a farmer and has some holes caused by bullets on the blade. This airport was the base of many Groups of the Luftwaffe, including the JG 77, JG 2 and SG 4. It seems to me to belong to a Bf 109. Some elderly witness remember a crash on April 23, 1944 above the airfield. In the propeller blade (colored in olive green) are painted some numbers. The number should be this: 912063 and 1215506 (see attached photo). At the base of the propeller are etched some numbers. Above is an octagon with the word BA and 10 (so it seems). Below 12 (written small) and 12067.10. Still under 12 (small) and 15596 and then 13 (small). Finally 12 (written small) and 188195. You can confirm that it is a Bf 109? I am attaching some photos Thank you in advance! Victor |
Re: FOUND PROPELLER OD BF 109?
Hello Victor,
how long is the propeller blade? is made of metal or wood? between all the numbers you write there are no references to a Bf.109 rather to a Junkers Ju 188 (188195) is usually mounted each piece was marked with the initials of the plane that was equipped! but I may be wrong! Hello thanks Patrick:confused: |

The blade is about 160 cm high and is made of aluminum. Thanks for the answers!
