Found the propeller of a Curtiss in central Italy
2 Attachment(s)
Good evening,
in the countryside of Capalbio (southern Tuscany), was found during the war, a propeller. Today was saved only a blade. In the bottom of the blade is engraved with the brand Curtiss. There are also many acronyms. From top to bottom: 43 DWG. NO. 89303 - 24w CHG - M. SER. NO. 74159 FORG. NO. 79605 Can you tell me which plane corresponds to the blade? Thank you Victor |
Re: Found the propeller of a Curtiss in central Italy
Curtis electric propellers were used on a variety of aircraft, P-40, P-47, B-26, C-46, etc.. Your's is most likely from a P-40.
You will find the drawing number (DWG 89303-24w) here, http://www.wwiiaircraftperformance.org/P-40/P-40.html |
