617 Squadron and german fighters
 

Was 617 Squadron officially or unofficially awarded credit for aerial victories over German fighters? If so can anyone give me any details of these victories?

Hi Keith,

Only 1 combat report (still) exists. It concerns several attacks on Lancaster ME560 'H' during the night of 15/16th March 1944. A Ju 88 was shot down.

It's available in the web shop of The National Archives.

I found the following claims in Bomber Commands Monthly Supplementary Narrative of Operations:

Night 15/16 March 1944: 2 destroyed Ju 88 by Lancaster H
Night 4/5 July 1944: 1 destroyed Ju 88 by Lancaster A
Day 12 January 1945: 1 damaged FW 190 by Lancaster W
Day 12 January 1945: 1 damaged FW 190 by Lancaster U
Day 9 April 1945: 1 damaged Me 262 by Lancaster K
Day 9 April 1945: 1 damaged Me 262 by Lancaster G
Day 9 April 1945: 1 damaged Me 262 by Lancaster V

All these claims should be "official" claims.
