Stab and II./JG 3 on 15.06.1944
 

Hi, all

Currently trying to help out a friend with some information for a publication, and sadly due to the deadline do not have time to get a hold of the Prien and Rodeike works on JG 3.

Could anyone help me out with information about the Stab and II./JG 3 and what is known about their operations on June 15th 1944? I believe they operated from Evreux at the time.

Hello Andreas,

II./JG 3 was indeed operational from Evreux on this day. They clashed with a mixed group of P-47 and P-51 west of Evreux in the early morning of the 15th.
4./JG 3 seems to be very lucky with 4 victory claims:
2 by Fw. Otto Florian, both P-51 at 6:40 & 6:45 hars, for his 11. & 12. victory.
1 by Uffz. Kurt Möllerke, a P-51 at 6:40, his 2nd.
1 by Uffz. Günther Engler, a Spitfire (but more likely a P-51 / P-51), his 3rd.
They lost 3 Bf 109G-6 in the encounter, but without loss of the pilots.
