If any members have copies of the above KTBs, I would be grateful if they would check for any reference to a combat between an RAF Avro Anson and a Do.18 on 19 Sept. 1939.

I don't know about the KTB for FdL West, but the NARA microfilm role I have with the KTB for KFlGr 306 (T1022/3328) only has the records for the following dates: 1.9.39 - 15.9.39 then jumps to 15.10 until it is redesignated in October as Stab./406. I emailed what I had for 2./306 the other day and just answered for 2./606 in your other thread so unless someone has something more concrete it looks like your candidate is 2./606.
