315 sqn claims over Norway 30 july 1944 - Idrians Me 110
 

Hi!

I'm currently researching the raid carried out by 489 Sqn escorted by mustang of 315 Polish sqn. My references mentions that Pilot W/O Ryszard Idrian shot down a Me 110 during the air battle that ensued during this raid. However I cannot find any loss report of this a/c made by the Luftwaffe. I can find the Me 109's lost, but no trace of the Me 110 - can anyone help me

By the way - does anyone know if the squadron crest was painted on this a/c by the time of this raid? I understand it was a fairly new machine and the caption states that the checkerboard had not been painted on yet.

Could this have been another friendly fire incident and that the 'Me110' was in fact a 489 Squadron Beaufighter?

Just a thought.
