Unknown Bf 109 red/yellow 5
1 Attachment(s)
Hi,
on Facebook was this photo posted. It looks like a Bf 109 E (incomplete tail) with a yellow or red 5. The location is interesting. Who has an idea about the location, time and possible the unit of that Bf 109? The camo looks a bit like the 5./JG 52 style for some Emils. Is it a captured plane for decoration in a factory at UK or something? Flc |
Re: Unknown Bf 109 red/yellow 5
Seems to be JG53 or JG52 in Werft - painting work?

And a quote attributed to LEMB, explaining why there is no cowling;
"The Messerschmitt Bf109E-3/B, WNr.4101, Black 12 of 2./JG51 was shot down by a Spitfire on 27 November 1940 and made a wheels-up landing at Manston. The aircraft was taken to the RAE for examination and fitted with a new fin and rudder from c/n 6313F of II(S)/LG2, a new upper forward engine cowling from c/n 1653 of JG51" |

Great, Don! Thanks. ;-)
That's happen when peoples copy photos and don't give the source. |
