My apologies to the group for a recent thread going somewhat sideways.
We'll never all have the same opinion on things and hope that we can all recognize that. Now back to Luftwaffe history.

Dear Chuck,

I found the discussion rather lively. While most of those commenting thought the wording was Dno Flugplatz, Rasmussen felt it was Der Flugplatz. In Sütterlin, the link to the chart I provided showed that, in Sütterlin, the "e" and the "n" look virtually identical. Thus, an argument could be made either way.

When given an issue where the answer could go either way, one looks for corroboration. Lacking that, it is best to present the original document and note that the wording is subject to interpretation, presenting the conflicting views.

We step off into the abyss when we make a declarative statement, which, upon repetition, gets set in stone.

Force of personality or numbers should not be the determining factor. In the main, the thread was informative and handled in a gentlemanly fashion.
