JG 76 on 05-09-1944

Gentlemen,

according to Toni Woods "Claim List", an Uffz. Riske of 2./JG 76 claimed a P-47 in the Limburg area on 5th September 1944.

IMHO, this should be a typo, because only III./JG 76 was involved in a combat with P-47 of 56.FG on this day.

Is there anybody with acess to the original documents and could check the unit as well as the name of the pilot, as there is no Uffz. Riske serving with JG 76 known to me...

Hello Heuser,

it's Uffz Helmut Rietze, 12th Staffel III/JG 76.
His first and only documented claim.

thank you very much for confirming my guess!

Despite Helmut Rietze was already a member of 15./JG 53 on the day of his loss (26.11.44), he is still listed under III./JG 76 in the VBL.
