No 219 Squadron - Wing Commander James Hayward Little

Hello,

I'm an historian/author from Merseyside currently researching the life and service of Wing Commander James Hayward Little and need some assistance.

According to his Record of Service her was placed on S.D.L. and posted to America in May 1941. He returned to Fighter Command HQ in March 1942.

The posting to America is listed as being Washington but does not distinguish between D.C or Washington State, although I assume it would be D.C.

Does anyone have any ideas on what Little could've been doing in Washington at that time? The American's hadn't yet entered the war and he stayed 3 months after Pearl Harbour.

Any theories would be most welcome.

Thanks.

Adrian
