165 Squadron - 5 Jan 1945 - Ramrod 1427
On 5 Jan 1945 two Spitfires of 165 Squadron collided over Oedelem, a small village just east of Brugge (Bruges), Belgium. F/O Andrew Scott and F/O James Quinn were killed and they both are buried in Brugge.
I was asked for a local project to see what the ORB of 165 Squadron tells of this accident. It appears that 165 Squadron was on an escort mission to/from Ludwigshafen (Ramrod 1427) and that the Spitfires were heading to nearby Ursel airfield (B-67), but I'd like to have confirmation on this. Any help is greatly appreciated. Regards, Leendert |
