Detailed list of losses in the Mediterranean june 1943

Hello,

Has anyone , or can anyone direct me to a list of the 106 US losses by combat or accident of US aircraft in the Mediteranean Theater of operations in June 1943.

In total there were 106.

These were broken down to P38's; P39's;P40's; P51's and other Fighter aircraft.

Losses of each type by number would be a start if nothing else.

And what US Fighter Groups were in that theater in June of 1943 ?

Thanks

Alex

Hi,
I was looking at page 197
Total losses 106 Jun 1943, same number given for 1st line losses.

Thanks though had not looked at the page you sent in but it only says 81 total for fighters.

Here are 3 accidents with total loss of AC:

9 June 1943
The Spitfire Vb ER759 of 4th FS, 52nd FG crashed at La Sebala, Tunisia. The pilot, 1st Lt Donald W Markley, was killed.

25 June 1943
The P-40L 42-10876 of 14th TCG was lost to engine failure 105 miles north of Atar, Tunisie. The pilot, Jack W John, bailed out.

28 June 1943
The P-39M 42-4844 of 92nd FQ, 81st FG, suffered engine failure over the Mediterranean Sea. Its pilot, Ronald I Moeller, bailed out 10 miles off Tafaroui, Algeria, and was rescued.

The webpage
http://www.aviationarchaeology.com/src/AARmonthly/Jun1943O.htm is listing these losses and other accidents but from the other accidents in Med area one can't know if the AC was totalled or not.

Hi Andrew,

Do you have similar loss information for US Fighter Groups for the end of the Tunisian Campaign (Apr43-May43). If so is it possible you could post the losses.

Regards

Hi Andy,

I do have the loss information for most of the USAAF fighter units for the Tunisian campaign in 1942/1943, but it's spread throughout a lot of different sources.

Also, I'm a bit busy at the moment (it is the middle of O-Week here at University), but I'll see what I can do for you.

Cheers,
Andrew A.
