1 Attachment(s)
Nothing to do with aviation, but some of you guys are considerably better than I am at reading German handwriting.

Any help much appreciated. Here is what I have:

Quote:

2. A Polish prisoner captured at Martha states: Strength ??? Brigade 5 of Polish, 9 of ???. In Tobruk there are 3 ??? ???.
Many thanks in advance for any help!

All the best

Andreas

Good evening Andreas !

Thank you four your good wishes and the same back from the current wheater-uncomfortable West Germany.

At visit on Christmas, I had shown my mother this sheet. She does agree with transcript's translation. The (xxxx) place she decypherd a scribbing Franzosen. So we may reed: "...Stärke Franzosen Brig. 5.000 Polen, ...."

Guten Rutsch ins Neue Jahr !

Ah! Now that is interesting. It should be 'polnische Brigade', but I agree that's not what I would read either. You are sure about 2 battalions of French in the last sentence, by the way? I read 3, but I always struggle with the old handwriting.

Alles Gute

The reproduced unreadable by hand added text is "noch südlich", i.e. "still south from".
