Ju 290 J4+

Hello all,

I apologise if this question has been asked before but a search of the forum didn't show anything so -

While researching for some USAF info on fold3 I happened on this image

http://www.fold3.com/image/49110121/

and I wonder if anyone here can tell me anything about the Ju 290 pictured in the link above, claimed to be under attack by a RAF Marauder?

Thanks
Maurice Perry

Ju 90Z-2 WNr.0007 (Stammkennzeichen BG+GY), the former D-AFHG, now coded J4+JH, shot down (forced water-landing) 23.July 1943 near Bastia, Corsica Ofw. Boldt & crew rescued.

Hope this clarifies, GRM

Thank you GRM for your prompt reply. Yes it does, thus the official caption is wrong as is often the case.

This makes me wonder if the shoot down was by RAF Marauder as per the caption or something else?? I will have to do some more research on that when I have time.

Thanks again
Maurice

Judging by the poor reply of the opposite gunners, seems a bit difficult to aim when turning tight

A wonderful year to everybody, my impression, we shall hv pretty surprising.. surprises in 2015
