Lt Tornow 4/JG51
Hello
Could anyone supply any further details or eye witness accounts of the loss of Bf109E-4 WNr 5370 of 4/JG51 on the 29th October 1940, piloted by Lt Tornow. I believe he was shot down by F/O Nelson of 74 Sqn and the aircraft may have crash landed at Dodds Farm near Tunbridge Wells. I am also looking for a picture of the pilot or the aircraft, if anyone knows a source it would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.. |

Leutnant Heinz Tornow 4./JG 51
Hi guys
There are two photographs of this pilot on page 113 of Das Jagdgeschwader JG 51 by Stipdonk and Meyer. I hope this helps. Horrido! Leo |
Re: Lt Tornow 4/JG51
A photo of Tornow's white 5 is on page 69 of Jochen Prien's Vol4/II. Tornow had 10 kills to his name and it would appear that Uffz Alfred Lenz was flying White 5 when he was shot down and killed the same day
