1/JG 2 Bf 109E-7 Ofw Rudolph Taeschner
Good evening all,
I am in the process of researching the following aircraft and pilot for use in a painting; Pilot: Ofw Rudolph Taeschner Aircraft type: Bf 109E-7 Aircraft number: 5963 Unit: 1/JG 2 Date: 24 July 1941 Location: La Pallice / La Rochelle Whilst I am fairly sure as to the type of camouflage, I wondered as to whether anybody is aware of what the unique number might have been on the side if the fuselage. I have seen within other forum posts that this pilot flew a 'white 4' during his time with JG 53 and I wondered as to whether Luftwaffe pilots had a habit of keeping the same numeral regardless of unit. Either way, I would be very grateful of any assistance. Many thanks all. Kind regards, James |

James
He was lost flying a White 4 over 2 years later-they used to have their own ac if serviceable but to say that he always flew White 4 in 1/JG 2 and then always flew White 4 in 1/JG 53 is a bit of a long shot without sight of his logbook |

James, David Weiss on his Bf109.de site has an image of a White 4 that he claims is Rudolf's, but Chris is probably correct that the likelihood of him having a White 4 between two Geschwader is improbable: http://www.messerschmitt-bf109.de/web.php
