JG5 losses 16/02/1945, Gossen, Norway
The 16th of February 1945, III./JG5. lost on pilot and at least five BF109s during an air battle with Costal Command flying out of Gossen. All known losses are from 10./III./JG5.
Do anyone have any more history of these aircrafts, pictures, anything is interesting. Wnr. 13 992, BF109G2, VI+MR. 10./JG5., Black 1+, Wolfgang Kindt, KIA. According to http://www.luftwaffe.no/SIG/Losses/tap43.html , this plane had 20% damage and was serving with IV./JG5. earlier: 20.12.43 IV./J.G.5 F Værnes flyplass Take off accident Bf 109G-2 13992 20 No personal injury Wnr 784 057, probably BF109G14/AS, according to official list, it's a G6, Black 15+, 10./JG5., Herman Jäger, wounded. Additionally, Black 3+ was lost at Gossen during start accident, piloted by Georg Ecke. Then we have two other wrecks: This one is belived to be a G14/AS, but Wnr or any identifying features are not known. Possibly piloted by Heinz Lork: https://ktsorens.tihlde.org/flyvrak/...lstindene.html And BF109G6 black 12+, probably piloted by Werner Heinicke. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/Tk...6Ic=w1894-h789 The last one is known to be lost in a nearby fjord, Sulafjorden, no other information is known, other than its a BF109. And we have two Wnr lost that day with III./JG5, and three planes without an Wnr, quite a puzzle: Wnr: 167 233, VO + KW? Wnr. 782 249 At the moment I'm a little bit stuck regarding the identity of these three planes. But hope to find some thing in a Norwegian report regarding the removal of guns from black 12+, possibly Wnr. |
Re: JG5 losses 16/02/1945, Gossen, Norway
Ecke's machine was reported as a Bf 109G-6 WNr. 782180.
I only have recorded losses for the first 3 machines you mention, and the last two. |
