Aircraft found near the island of Lemnos, Greece

6 Attachment(s)
Hello everybody,

the fishermen of the island of Lemnos in Greece had a strange catch in their nets. They elevated a propeller from an unknown aircraft, which could be – in my opinion – a Messerschmitt BF 109.

Please, if you are so kind, check the photos (s. attachments) and report whether the shown propeller could originate be a BF 109 propeller.

Thanks in advance!

Good evening

it would be helpful to have the size.

May I suggest you hae a look if you can see any plate or marking under the shells, the answer may be there !

good luck.

If there are plates they should be on the front of each propellor, on the prop hub. Best luck.

These blades are tow small for a fighter aircraft - I would vote for an Ar 196.
