I'm looking for the name of Staka 3./JG54 before Ostermann. Was it Oblt Hans Schmoller-Haldy?

Prien has Oberleutnant Hans Schmoller-Haldy serving as Staffelkapitän of 3./JG 54 prior to Oberleutnant Max-Hellmuth Ostermann so it appears that you are correct. I hope this helps.

Hi

Ostermann was never the Staffelkapitän of the 3.Staffel, Schmoller-Haldy was badly woundet in a emergency landing 23.03.1942. Ostermann came to the 8.Staffel end of Januar 1942.

Hi guys

According to Prien he was appointed Staffelführer of 3./JG 54 on 5 November 1941 in succession to Oberleutnant Hans Schmoller-Haldy. He relinquished command to Oberleutnant Schmoller-Haldy at some unspecified time although deZeng and Stankey state that he was in command of 3./JG 54 until at least 5 December 1941. Prien also lists him as appointed Staffelkapitän of 8./JG 54 on 14 March 1942. I hope this helps.
