Legion Condor Bf 109 D-1 Coded 6-71 and 6-80

Dear All,

The following two photos featuring 6-71* and 6-80 respectively are taken from a photo album found on eBay here http://www.ebay.de/itm/400850982723?....M11165.R1.TR8.

I am especially interested in the emblem behind the cockpit of the 6-71*. Would that be a personal emblem, or perhaps a rare variant (i.e., white or colourless top hat on the black disc) of the Zylinderhut embelm of 2./J88?

Any thoughts or comments on that one?

Regards,
Sinisa

When it comes to Bf 109 D - "6-71" I think that according to "Condor" (Laureau 2000) it belonged to 1.J/88 and thus the emblem would not be a Zylinderhut of 2.J/88

Post No.3 refers. 1.J/88 alright, but why was St. Andrew's Cross omitted from the fuselage disc then? Perhaps not all 1.J/88 aircraft had this feature? I have photographic evidence for the 6-66 to 6-70 batch as belonging to 1.J/88, I am not sure about the 6-71 and 6-72, while the 6-73 belonged to 2.J/88.
