III KG 4 in Italy, late 1942

Per Michael Holm's website "Luftwaffe, 1939-1945", III/KG 4 was in Italy, end of October to early December 1942 (9th Staffel in Greece).

In one of the volumes of new Luftwaffe Colors "Kampflieger" Series, saw picture of an abandoned 7th Staffel He 111 on what appeared to be a desert airstrip. British soldiers posing for photographer. Aircraft code of 5J+ER.

Was III/KG 4 here to operate against allied "Torch" landings?

Best,

According to Gundelach's book the Gruppe was engaged only as a transport unit for supplying Panzerarmee Afrika - bomb magazines were even removed from III./K.G. 4 aircraft.
