Ju 88 identity
For the more knowledgable out there,
I have a scan depicting a Ju 88 undergoing mainteance (version unknown to me) that seems to have it's covers over the nose/wheel which seems to carry a serial number. From what I can make out the number is: 0880437. Any help sorting out the identity of this aircraft and it's associated career would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance Adam T |
Re: Ju 88 identity
Adam, if you refering to the 3.(F)/10 Ju 88 in the Ebay photos 2-19 from Ebay posted by Ed West, then I do not believe you are able to see the entire W.Nr. on the wheel cover. If that is the aircraft, then there were Ju 88s carrying the codes T1+AL, BL, DL, KL and OL (plus possibly all the intervening codes), but unfortunately I have seen no documentation that would tie W.Nr. to any of the codes.

Re: Ju 88 identity
ArtieBob,
The picture I am refering to is not from Ed West's latest update on eBay sales... It is, however from a previous eBay sale. See attached picture. Regards Adam |
Re: Ju 88 identity
W.Nr.0437 was a Ju 88 A-5(F) built at Bernberg, probably accepted around Sep-40. While assigned to II. FAG101 on 4 April 44, crashed near Neuruppin,100% damaged. Pilot, Uffz. Manfred Ernst and 3 crew killed. Source: Tägliche Verlustmeldung Schulen usw.
