Fw. Schimala 9./JG 26 Loss

Hi guys,

Does anyone have the loss details for a Fw. Schimala of 9./JG 26 believed killed in 1940?

Any further details would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Melvin

Melvin,

the fate of this pilot has been dealt with in several threads - take a look at LRG, where Larry Hickey has commented on a photo of a crash site allocated to this pilot.

The problem is the correct spelling of the pilot's name - it is Fw. Gerhard Grzymalla of 8./JG 26, who was involved in a mid air collision on March 26th, 1940, near Essen-Mühlheim, when he was able to parachute to safety only to be shot down and captured over England as Obfw. on September 23rd, 1940.
