USAAF 8th AF Mission #159
Hi all,
Probably asking a bit much in one hit, but...does anyone have anything to offer on the following they are willing to share: A) a copy of the flight plan for the raid on 20 December 1943 to Bremen, as flown by the heavies B) the escort details in terms of number of sorties flown by each type (I have P-38s, P-47s and P-51s all participating in the raid) C) The relevant legs assigned to each escort type (inbound/target/outbound is good enough as a general reference) D) The claims made by the PPF B-17s and B-24s along with those made by the P-38 and P-51 escorts. (I have the main force B-17s as claiming 21-14-23 and the P-47 escort as 19-3-6?) Thanks in advance for any and all help |

I don't know if you are aware of this site, but you can get a lot of information for a particular mission using it.
http://www.8thafhs.com/ Starting on the 4th circle (missions by date) by entering 20 December 1943 you are taken to a series of links. Some of the BG reports are very complete, including maps, etc. Some of the MACRs are shown completely, others are summarized. Many of your questions may be answered by digging through all the information that is available on the various links given for that date. |
