Yellow or white fuselage strip on the Dornier Do 17 Z of KG 76

Hi,

As well as in the books ""La Luftwaffe attaque à l'ouest" (Jean-Bernard Frappé) page 26 as page 254 of "Luftwaffe Codes Markings & Units: 1939-1945" (Barry Rosch) photos of the Dornier D0 17Z KG76 show a thin strip yellow in front of the fuselage code. Are these markings were unique to KG 76 and from what date they appear: in the Western Campaign or during the Battle of Britain ?

Thank you in advance

Bertrand

Bertrand,

These bands were always in the Staffel color and appeared on almost all KG76 aircraft during 1940.

The thin Rumpfband aft of the trailing edge of the wings was still being applied to the III/KG 76 Ju 88As in the winter 1941/1942, but I'm unsure if it was continued.
