Oblt Herbert Schramm, 5/JG 27
The above was shot down in a Bf 109 G-6, Wk Nr410291 coded <II+-on 1 Dec 43. Apparently he was shot down by a P-47 near Eupen or Verviers. Has anyone got a more accurate location for his crash, where he is buried and could he have been shot down by 1/Lt James Wilkinson of 84th FS, 78 FG who claimed a Bf 109 G near Eupen at 1125 hrs?

Re: Oblt Herbert Schramm, 5/JG 27
Schramm was buried in his hometown Wetzlar. Photos of the burial can be seen in the book "Die Eichenlaubträger 1940-45, Vol.III" by Peter Stockert.

Re: Oblt Herbert Schramm, 5/JG 27
It is quite possible that Schramm went down in a fight with the 357FS/355th FG between "Maastricht to Eupen to east of Liege" at approximately 1125-1150. The 357FS Blue flight reported a bounce by skilled and aggressive LW.
Initial claims of 3-1-2 were reduced to 1-2-3. It is possible that Schramm (JG27) and/or Miksch (JG1) were part of this fight |
Re: Oblt Herbert Schramm, 5/JG 27
If the chap baled out, this could be a possibility
