III/StG 51 Aircraft Names 1940

I have a photo of a 7/StG 51 Stuka with not only the comet & bull badge but the name Friedl on the nose; does anyone know if others had names or is this a one off?

Chris,

I ran my 7./StG51 DB. I found that many photos clearly did not have nicknames on the cowlings, although many of these pre-date the use of the comet/bull insignia era.
I found two photos that appear to show nicknames on the noses, neither of which could be read. One was probably 6G+FR (had a white "F" under the prop spinner). This might be your "Friedl," but I doubt that this is your specific photo, as it really wan't clear enough to read the lettering.

Would like to see an image of your photo if you feel comfortable sharing it at this point.

Hi,

I have "Friedl" with comet emblem as well as aircraft "white D" with name, which could be not read and obscured comet emblem.

Regards

Robert

The photo I have has a dark F under the nose and white Fs on the spats. 'Friedl' is in line with the scoop on the top of the cowling and above the exhaust stubs. The comet starts below the pilot's sliding hood

Chris,

I'm now quite sure that I have this image as an eBay auction posting. I said above that the a/c letter under the nose was white; it is black, but the white "F" is visible on the starboard wheel spat. In this image, the nickname isn't readable. You probably bought the original on eBay, and can thus read it.
