81730 Plt Off Gilbert George Elliot

The above General Duties officer was fatally wounded in the crash of a He 111 of 8/KG 55 on 8 Oct 40, succumbing 10 Oct 40. He was buried at Sholden in Kent. His unit was said to be RAF Tangmere-can anyone confirm this of what his unit was?
